RCB Elevator Consulting, LLC (RCB) is a full service elevator design & engineering firm.  Unlike most elevator consultants who provide services to building owners and architects, RCB typically provides services directly to elevator companies.  Though we are frequently involved with new construction projects, the greater portion of our work is in conjunction with the modernization and alteration of existing elevator systems. 

RCB Elevator Consulting, LLC provides elevator submittal shop drawing preparation and structural engineering services directly to the elevator industry, typically elevator companies.  This service is especially suited to laying out more complicated major alterations, especially those involving structural changes and where there are seismic considerations.  The drawings and engineering produced are suited for owner, consultant and jurisdiction submission; are instrumental in ordering and fabricating equipment; and are essential for proper field installation.

Types of Projects:
Obsolete winding drum elevator conversion to modern traction elevator system retaining existing non-standard hoistway and various viable components of original elevator.
Drive machine replacement including custom designed structural machine adapter bridging and blocking.
Otis MRVF 270° drive machine replacement typically with elevated blocking and new deflector sheave in machine room.
Hollister Whitney Rope Gripper™ additions as required by ASME A17.1-2004, 2.26.2.29 & 30 for ascending car overspeed & unintended car movement protection.
Elevator modernizations including solid state controls, door equipment, fixtures, wiring, etc.

Although located in San Francisco, California, we perform services nationally.  Design engineering for the modernization/alteration of existing elevator systems typically require a proper and thorough field survey.  We have found that to prepare the engineering for most projects, it is best that we perform our own comprehensive field surveys.
